Respond to Posted Job via e-Mail:

The resume is forwarded by e-mail in response to an advertised job or specific request. Unless another format is requested: Paste text version of the resume into outgoing e-mail. If a different format is requested (MS Word, for example), it is sent as an e-mail attachment.

Targeted e-Mail Campaign:

Resume e-Mail Blasting:

MS Word or text resume is distributed to hundreds or thousands of recruiters, hiring agents, and/or employers (typically, all locations and industries). About resume blasting
Resume Posting:

Typically, a text resume is "pasted" into an online form and "posted" to a searchable online database. Some sites will allow you to upload and post a Word version of the resume.

Resumes can be posted at general job search sites (www.Monster.com), at job-specific sites (www.salesjobs.com), or at company sites like www.nike.com.

Faxing:

A hard copy version of resume may be faxed to employers or recruiters on request or sent unsolicited to targeted hiring managers. When faxing, be sure to use a scannable resume format to increase readability and reduce scanning errors. Some faxed resumes are received and read by human beings, while others are "scanned" via the fax and downloaded into a database.

Some companies use the fax to "scan" incoming resumes for downloading to resume database.
